Sanirang Alpine Networks Ice Climbing School runs for the 2012 season will run twice.. The first session begins January 14th to the 23rd and will meet off Line #4 at Suyu Station’s Exit #8 at 7:30am for the first meeting. All the consequent meetings will be arranged according to the following session’s location. All are welcome to join!
This a good opportunity and not exclusive to beginners, but is also great for intermediate ice climbers alike because this course covers such a wide range of skills on various grades of ice and is an excellent way to review and practice the numerous techniques on ice with experienced and qualified instructors. Throughout the course, clients will learn basic ice climbing skills on low grade grade and vertical ice walls. Applied winter clothing systems‚ ice safety‚ knots‚ top-rope belaying‚ abseiling and other applied techniques exclusive to winter climbing conditions will be learned such as the various French techniques‚ N-Body‚ X-Body and other useful ice climbing skills throughout. The course progreses in an organized and timely fashion under the professional supervision of our instructors. A new and different location will be chosen for each outing‚ giving clients a fuller comprehension and appreciation for ice climbing in Korea.
The final session finishes off with a day trip to the outskirts of the northern GyeongGi Province up a natural multi-pitch ice fall topped off with plenty of top-roping to finish off the day! Warm your winter up. Come join us and be a part of the action.
Location and routes are tentative and subject to change depending on weather conditions‚ climbing traffic and other factors. Outings are never cancelled; however‚ in the event of deteriorating or very poor weather conditions, sessions will be held at the nearby indoor facility and have a technical skills workshop. Payment & Confirmation
The climbing school program costs only 385‚000KRW per client– this includes the Korean 10% VAT. The deadline for payment and registration is on Thursday‚ January 12, 2012 for the first A session and January 26, 2012 for the second B session. A minimum 50% or 192,500KRW non-refundable deposit is required reserve your spot. The maximum of only 8 students may join and the school requires a minimum of four clients to commence– if this is not reached, a complete refund will be made. Once SAN has confirmed your payment‚ a tentative itinerary will be sent to you along with a request to fill out our registration form. This form is also for your benefit in the very unlikely event of a mishap or injury‚ SAN asks clients for the following specific information in order to process a temporary insurance policy. SAN is not only one of the few climbing outfitters in the world that insures clients‚ but also includes coverage as part of the original payment. SAN Climbing Gear
Sanirang Alpine Networks understands how difficult buying gear in Korea can be. We also understand how expensive the necessary basic gear can be in order to learn how to climb, so because of this, SAN rents all of the necessary gear required to join the Climbing School from head to toe at the cheap and reasonable rates. Necessary gear includes: helmet, ice climbing boots, harness, and belaying device set, crampons and axes for only 25,000KRW for everything per outing OR 5,000KRW per each piece of gear for those with some gear of their own already.

Rain or Shine Policy
The Climbing School will never cancel despite deteriorating weather conditions. In the event of less than promising weather and SAN deems it to unsafe to climb, sessions will be done at an indoor climbing or bouldering gym where additional bouldering and sport climbing techniques and skills will be taught.
Refund Policy
An initial non-refundable 50% deposit is required to reserve a spot. Cancellations must be made one week prior to the start date of the intended and scheduled climbing school program in order to receive a complete cash refund; otherwise, the deposit is completely forfeited to SAN. In the event that a full-payment of deposit has been made and the participant cancels within the week of the first scheduled climbing school session, 50% of their full payment deposit will be forfeited and the remaining 50% will be refunded in cash. Pro-rated rates and refunds are not rewarded for the climbing school program in the event that the participant knowingly or unknowingly misses any one of the scheduled outings
*Insurance coverage is inclusive and applies to all courses, guided climbs and climbing school programs.
**Late-comers are welcome to join as late as the second week of instruction; however‚ there is no pro-rated discount from the original course cost and deposits are due no later than Wednesday before the intended Sunday of joining up as late as the second Sunday session. The cost remains 385‚000KRW. Despite joining late‚ the remaining sessions allow plenty of time to make up for the skills missed in the first session.
